Protect Your Eyes with the 20-20-20 Rule

So many of us spend a large portion of our day gazing upon the screens of mobile devices, computer monitors, laptops, gaming systems and televisions. This can put of lot of strain on your eyes.

Avoid eyestrain. When using screens for an extended period, give your eyes a break. Try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, take a break for 20 seconds and focus your eyes on something at least 20 feet away.

Eye strain can be uncomfortable. Symptoms include:

  • Sore or burning eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Dry or watery eyes
  • Itchy eyes
  • Dull headaches
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Sore neck or back

Although eye strain typically doesn’t have long-term outcomes, it may make you feel fatigued and reduce your ability to concentrate.
