Feeling Sick Over the Holidays? Here's What to Do

Between shopping, cooking and family gatherings during the holiday season, it can be hard to find time for a trip to your health care provider’s office! In this week’s 2 Your Well-Being discussion, Valerie Leschber, MD, chief medical informatics officer, Cone Health, discusses the most convenient options for care available to you if you get sick over the holidays.

What options for care are available?

There are many options for care depending on your condition. If you have a medical emergency, it’s important to dial 911 or visit an emergency room for critical care. But for illnesses like colds, the flu, GI illnesses and minor injuries, another option may be more convenient.

E-visits are available through the Cone Health MyChart portal. You can describe your symptoms to a provider, and they will write back with advice and any needed prescriptions. E-visits typically cost $30 dollars through the holiday season. You must be at least 18 years old to use e-visits.

Virtual Visits

A virtual visit is a real time conversation with a licensed health care provider over the phone, through an app or through a video chat. Virtual visits typically cost $49 dollars through the holiday season, and they are available to people of all ages.

Urgent Care

At urgent care facilities, you can meet with a health care provider face-to-face without an appointment. Cone Health has multiple urgent care facilities:
