Our four-week summer program begins on Monday, July 9th and ends on Thursday, August 2nd. Every teen is expected to actively volunteer for all four weeks.

Teen Volunteer at Cone HealthWe hope you consider participating in Cone Health’s teen volunteer program, a great way to get hands-on experience in a hospital setting. As a volunteer, you will have the personal satisfaction of helping others.

Our ideal volunteer candidate is someone who genuinely wants to serve others and make a difference in the daily lives of our patients, visitors and staff. Every assignment completed by a volunteer supports our efforts to provide exemplary care. Our ideal volunteer knows that there are no small tasks when it comes to serving others.

Teen Volunteer Requirements

To qualify as a teen volunteer you must:

  • Be at least 15 years of age by June 1.
  • Have at least a B average in school.
  • Be willing to volunteer one day each week for four weeks.
Our four-week summer program begins on Monday, July 9th and ends on Thursday, August 2nd.

NOTICE: Every teen is expected to actively volunteer for one full-day (same day) each of the four weeks.  There will be no exceptions, including half-days or shift switching.

Teen volunteers are expected to volunteer for one full day each of the 4 weeks.  It will be the same day each week with no exceptions or switches.

How To Become A Teen Volunteer

You and a parent or guardian must attend one of our mandatory information sessions. Only one parent/guardian and the perspective teen may attend the information session due to space constraints. If you do not attend one of our information sessions, you will not be eligible to become a summer teen volunteer. Our upcoming information sessions are scheduled:

2018 Teen Information Session Dates

All sessions are held at Moses Cone Hospital - Classroom A in the North Tower.

  • Thursday, May 24th at 6:00pm
  • Sunday, May 27th at 1:30pm

During our information sessions, we will share valuable information for prospective volunteers.

Each teen volunteer candidate must bring the following paperwork to this session. If you do not have all of the paperwork with you at the information session, you will NOT be able to participate in the teen volunteer program.

  • A completed application
  • A copy of your immunization records:
    • 1st and 2nd MMR
    • Tdap (within past 10 years)
    • Hepatitis B (need this record if you have had the series)
    • 1st and 2nd Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines or blood test to prove immunity
  • Current report card with at least a B average.
  • Reference letter from a teacher or counselor.
  • A school picture (wallet size), snapshot or COPY of driver’s license.
  • A 100-word essay detailing the unique qualities and initiative that you possess that makes you exceptional. Why should we select you to participate in the teen volunteer program?

If you are chosen to participate in one of our programs, you will be REQUIRED to attend the Teen Orientation on Thursday, June 28th at 5:00 p.m. on the Moses Cone Hospital Campus, North Tower, Classroom A. You must be present and on-time for this orientation in order to volunteer – NO EXCEPTIONS!

Forms and Tests for New and Current Volunteers

These forms and tests are only to be completed once you have attended an information session and received an acceptance letter/email. 

These documents apply only for positions at Moses Cone Hospital, Wesley Long Hospital, Cone Health Cancer Center, MedCenter High Point and MedCenter Kernersville.
